For a more inclusive democracy
Affirmative Democracy is a Más Igualdad Perú initiative that promotes political participation, civic leadership, and the defense of the rights of LGBTIQ+ people in La Libertad and Loreto. The project fosters safe spaces for participation, dialogue and citizenship free of discrimination, strengthening access to democratic life for sexual and gender diversities.
We seek to strengthen an inclusive democracy, where LGBTIQ+ people are recognized as full citizens and rights holders. In a context of institutional distrust and persistent exclusionary discourse, Democracia Afirmativa works to expand civic participation and reduce gaps in access and representation outside Lima.
Recommendations Kit for Promoting Inclusion in La Libertad and Loreto
This LGBTIQ+ inclusion toolkit brings together guides and practical resources for regional governments, municipalities, social organizations and technical teams to promote inclusive public services, citizen participation and discrimination-free care. Based on evidence, community experiences and affirmative care approaches, it offers recommendations that can be adapted to different territories to strengthen institutional and community capacities in promoting LGBTIQ+ rights in Peru.
Events and actions
This section shares activities such as dialogue tables, exchange meetings, outreach actions, and spaces for capacity building and listening with local stakeholders. These actions seek to build trust, expand the visibility of LGBTIQ+ people in public life, and create opportunities for different voices to take part in building more democratic, inclusive and discrimination-free communities.
We strengthen the political participation and protection of LGBTIQ+ people in La Libertad and Loreto, promoting spaces for dialogue, practical tools and actions for a more inclusive democracy.
